Listening Resources

Hi everyone,

Many of you have asked for extra listening practice.  Here are a few things you can do to help yourself.

First

  • The most important is to actually DO and USE the resources below.
  • Build your vocabulary any way you can.  Reading daily and speaking with Canadians are probably two of the best and easiest ways.

 Library

  • Real Talk 1 is a previous level 40 listening text with many lectures the book and CD is in the library
  • NorthStar Listening and Speaking Book

Internet

Daily Life

  • Watch TV and listen to the radio every day
  • Join a local club
  • Make some Canadian friends

If you actually take time on a regular basis to use this resources and work with them, your listening will improve.

My Breakfast friend

Hi everyone,

Here are a couple of pictures of a new friend I made during my breakfast one day while I was camping last week.  It was a young (maybe 3 year old) black bear who decided to walk through my campsite.  He wasn't very big, perhaps 1 metre tall, and about 60-80KG.  These can be dangerous animals, but this little guy was clearly trying to walk to someplace and was not at all interested in my campsite or my food.  He actually jumped and ran a little bit every time he heard the camera click.
